James A. McCoy, 85, of Kansas City, MO passed away Friday, November 20, 2009 at his home. A celebration of his life will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 24 at First Church of the Nazarene, 11811
State Line Rd, Kansas City, Mo. Visitation will be 9:30-11 a.m., Tuesday prior to the service at the church. Interment in Green Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Church of the Nazarene.
James was born December 3rd, 1923 in Fort Scott, Kansas. He was a teacher, councilor administrator at Shawnee Mission School District 34 years. He was Head Master at two Christian Schools in California until his retirement 1991. He then was an associate pastor at First Church of the Nazarene in Sacramento, CA for two years. He was married to Geraldine McCoy for 62 years, 11 months. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Kansas City MO since 1960.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Stuart Allen McCoy.
He is survived by his wife, and son, James Scott McCoy and six adopted grand children, Elizabeth, Alexander, Victoria, Juliana, Isabella and Nicolas Sawyer. He is also survived by his brother, John J. McCoy and sister, Margaret (Jack) Eyestone and many nieces and nephews.
