James Robert Miller (Bob) June 17, 1924 - March 10, 2012
Our father, Bob, passed away peacefully with us by his side on March 10, 2012 at 87 years old. During WWII he served in the U.S. Navy as a pilot. Following his Service Duty he completed his education in Electrical Engineering at the University of Kansas. Bob joined the Kansas City Power and Light Company in 1948, and retired as Executive VP and COO, in 1989. He was very supportive and was a member of several local charity and professional organizations. He was also a first generation member of The Village Presbyterian Church.
After 63 years of marriage, Bob was preceded in death by the love of his life Beverly Jeanne Miller. After retiring Bob and Bev relocated to Hot Springs Village, AR "living the good life", while offering a beautiful place for family and friends to vacation. In 2002, Bob and Bev moved back to the Kansas City area, residing at Lakeview Village where again they enjoyed spending quality time with friends and family. Bob lived his life with extremely high integrity, giving 100% to the task at hand. He enjoyed sports, travel, good jazz, friends and family. We will remember our Dad as being a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. His memory will live on in all he leaves behind.
Bob is survived by daughter Marsha and her husband Chip Farley, daughter Marilyn and her partner Janalea Hoffman, and son Jim and his wife Linda. He loved his grandchildren and so enjoyed watching them grow: On the Farley side, Jennifer and her husband Jason King (their children Carson and Kacie), Jason and his wife Lara (their children Gwen, and Wyatt), and Bryan and his wife Lindsay. On the Miller side, Lindsay and her husband Paul Zubeck (their children Cannon and Connelly), Jamie and her husband Adam Smith, Bobby, and Brett.
A celebration of Bob's life will be held at D.W. Newcomer's Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, O.P., KS on Saturday, March 17 at 2:00 p.m. A Memorial in Bob's honor has been established through Lakeview Village Foundation Chapel Fund for Sunday programs.
