James E. Mosimann, Sr., “Jim”, passed away on January 24, 2017, with only the regret of leaving his remarkable wife Jean, and his loving family. He was born at home in Kansas City, KS on October 30, 1928 to the delight of his parents, Albert T. and Lillie May (Dickason) Mosimann, as well as his three siblings, Al, Bill and Lillie May. Jim attended schools in Kansas City, KS and graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1946. He was a World War II veteran, joining the US ARMY at age 17. After basic training in Ft. Knox, he shipped out of San Francisco on a troop ship, assembled with the 25th Infantry Division landing in Japan, and served until 1948.
After the service, Jim met Jean and the two were married on June 16, 1951 at St. Peter’s Cathedral in Kansas City, KS. Jim attended Kansas State University and went on to receive a BSEE. He started his career at Black and Veatch Engineering. As a registered Professional Engineer and a member of the IEEE, Jim next started a distinguished career at Western Electric in the early 60’s. He was a Plant Engineer, and later Electrical Supervisor, Senior Engineer, Department Chief and Engineering Manager. Jim spent 34 years at Lee’s Summit, MO Works (spanning Western Electric, AT&T Microelectronics, and Lucent Technologies).
Upon retirement, Jim served nine years as Consultant for Townsend Technologies, assisting in converting “his” manufacturing plant to multiple office complexes. In addition to this, Jim volunteered over 6000 hours at St. Joseph Health Center and served as President of the Friends of St. Joseph.
Jim leaves his devoted wife, Jean, to whom he was married 65 years; their two sons Jim Jr. and John, their wives Lori and Krystal; four grandchildren Jim III and his wife Holly, Jack, Dane and Adyson; and his great grandson, Charlie.
Other than his relentless devotion to family, Jim will also be remembered for his engaging laugh, selfless persistence to help others, and a keen ability to lead by example.
He requested the Epitaph on his tombstone to read: “I won’t talk too much anymore”.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 27, 2017 from 10-11AM, Mass at 11AM, at Church of the Nativity, 3800 W 119th St, Shawnee Mission, KS 66209.
