James Arthur Peters of Overland Park, Kansas died in Christ on October 29. 2013 at Shawnee Mission Hospital
Jim was born in Manhattan, Kansas on January 16, 1931; one of four children of William and Amanda Peters. He proudly served his Country in the US Air Force. He earned his Electrical Engineering degree from Kansas State University and his Masters degree from the University of Kansas.
Jim married Barbara Ann Nelson on December 21, 1957 and they were blessed with three children and 55 years of happiness. He and Barbara were founding members of Bethany Lutheran Church and were very active in serving their Lord at that congregation.
His career at Bendix/Allied Signal/Honeywell spanned 32 years until his retirement in 1990.
Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara of the home; daughter Deborah Brockman (Ronald) of Overland Park, Kansas; son Daniel Peters (Annette) of Lenexa, Kansas; daughter Diana Wallace (Theo) of Granger, Indiana; four grandsons: Jeffrey Wilke (Carrie), Theodore Wallace, Nicholas Peters, Ryan Brockman (Hyuni); and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2013 from 5 to 7pm at the D.W. Newcomer Funeral Home, 11200 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, Kansas. The Funeral will be 10:00am Friday, November 1, 2013 at Bethany Lutheran Church, 9101 Lamar Avenue, Overland Park, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jim's honor can be made to Bethany Lutheran Church or to the Metropolitan Lutheran Ministries, 3031 Holmes, Kansas City, MO 64109
