James Smith Rogers, 82, passed away Monday, October 15, 2007.
James was born in Mansfield, Ill., and graduated from Jefferson High School, Lafayette, Ind. After Army service in Europe during WWII, he received an engineering degree from Purdue University. He later served during the Korean Conflict. He was a professional engineer and spent the last 15 years of his career at Allied Signal in Kansas City. He was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge.
His wife of 59 years, Dorothy, preceded him in death Oct. 7, 2007. He is survived by two daughters, Pamela S. Rogers, Boulder, Colo., and Deborah K. Rinehart, Bates City, Mo.; a sister, Ruth Ann Barnett, Pierceton, Ind.; two nephews, Brad Barnett, Green River, Wyo., and Jeff Barnett, Versailles, Ind.; and one niece, Tana Blocher, Pierceton.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kansas City Hospice House.
