Jim Roy, age 66, passed away in his home July 9, 2013 in the loving arms of his wife after complications from a bone marrow transplant. Jim grew up in Overland Park, KS and served 2 Vietnam tours. Jim worked construction and was a proud member of the Carpenters Union for 45 years. In 1971, he married the love of his life, Bev. Jim built their first home where they lived for 24 years raising their 2 children; they loved boating and camping. Later he built their dream home in the country on 20 acres. Jim was an avid outdoorsman; loving to fish and hunt on the Roy Ranch. His favorite time was being with his grandkids who love their Papa. Jim & Bev enjoyed square dancing, round dancing, & playing cards with friends. After retiring in 2006 they did lots of traveling.
Jim is survived by his wife Bev; two children, Kim (Stacey) Clark and Jeff (Christina) Roy and 5 grandchildren; sister, Deborah Roy; aunt, Marcia Roy and a large extended family.
Visitation will be Friday July 12, 2013 from 6–8PM at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS 66210; The family requests guests to wear Royals shirts in honor of Jim at the visitation. Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 13, 2013 at 10AM at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS 66210
