James Peyton Sanders Jr., 94, passed away March 1, 2017. He was born February 3, 1923 in Kansas City, MO, the son of James Peyton and Marguerite A. (Phelps) Sanders. He graduated from Manual High School in 1941 and then went on to serve our country in the United States Air Corp from 1943 to 1946. He married Mary Roseanna Boswell in 1949. James was a sign painter working for Newby Sign Company which he purchased from Bill Newby and ran for over 34 years. He loved art and did charcoal and pastel portraits of his family. James was a member of Village Presbyterian Church and The American Legion Post 370. He loved to travel the US and Europe and loved playing golf, having hit a “hole in one”. Mr. Sanders was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mary Roseanna Sanders. Survivors include his children, Mary Ann Hutsell, Donna Jean Walker and husband Jim, James P. “JP” Sanders III and wife Paula, grandchildren; Blake Perry, Quentin Holy, Amy Holy, Carrie Terry, Mitchell Johnson, Leslie Vargas, Michael Walker and 11 great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Tuesday at Johnson County Chapel, Overland Park, KS with Funeral Services at 2 PM Wednesday at the chapel.
