Jamie “Jim” Wallace Gray, 87, Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Sunday January 31, 2010 surrounded by his loving family. A celebration of Jim’s life will be 1:00pm Friday February 5 at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf with burial following in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. A gathering of Jim’s family and friends will be from 6-8:00pm Thursday at the chapel. If desired, memorial contributions may be given in Jim’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3846 W. 75th, Prairie Village, KS 66208.
Jim was born in Dyer, Tennessee and lived in Arkansas before moving to Kansas City in 1958. While living in Arkansas he worked for Osceola Foods. After moving to Kansas City he worked with his brother Robert Gray at the Conoco at 103rd and State Line until 1964 when he started his own business, Jim Gray’s Lawn and Snow Service. He operated this business until he retired in 1984.
Jim is survived by his wife of 66 years, Flo, four children, Jamie Gray, Lynda Sloan, Sandi Bucher and Rick Gray; two brothers, Robert Gray and Wayne Gray. Six grandchildren, Jeff Gray, Ashley Sloan, Jenny Gray, Amanda Bucher, Chris Gray, Katie Gray and four great grandchildren, Travis Gray, Trevor Gray, Jeremy Gray and Justice Gray.
