Jan Gordon

April 28, 1956 — December 13, 2020

Overland Park, Kansas

Jan A. Gordon, 64, of Overland Park, Kansas, died December 13, 2020 at the Kansas City Hospice House.  There will not be a Memorial Service at the present time.  Friends may pay their respects at her final place of rest beside her father Louis Gordon at the Johnson County Memorial Gardens 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66210.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to ADRA, a worldwide relief association.

Jan was born April 28, 1956 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan, to Louis and Shirley Gordon.  Jan graduated from the University of Kansas with a bachelor’s degree in Medical Records Administration.  She received the highest score in the National on the coding exam and worked at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.

Jan loved being a Seventh Day Adventist and attended New Haven SDA Church.  She considered all the youth of the church as her children and was actively involved with Pathfinders.

Jan’s hobbies were origami (which she often was seen making for the children during service), photography, and writing poems.  Her poetry book and puzzle book helped raise funds for the Pathfinders.  She enjoyed taking care of her mom Shirley, putting puzzles together, playing Yahtzee and Scramble together.

Jan was extremely thoughtful, caring and giving.  She put everyone’s needs above her own.  Having gone thru dialysis and recent kidney transplant, Jan told her sister Traci “I’m so happy to be passed the kidney rejection stage, because when it’s your turn for dialysis and transplant, I’ll be there for you”.

Jan is survived by her wonderful mom Shirley, devoted sister Jill, her younger sister Traci, and her niece Aubri Matkin and nephew Ben Matkin.

Jan was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend and will be missed by all who, knew her.
