Mary "Jane" Tillotson Brace, 85, of Overland Park, Kan., passed away Saturday, February 27, 2010.
She was born to the late Pete and Marie Tillotson November 30, 1924, in Kansas City, Mo. Jane graduated from Southwest High School in 1942. She was a lifelong resident of the Kansas City area.
Jane was passionate about sports. She founded Sitzmark Sports in 1968, where she sold snow ski equipment and apparel until her retirement in 2002. The second and third generations of Sitzmark Sports now continue the legacy she began.
Jane was a member of Colonial Church, Prairie Village, Kan. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels, was actively involved in the Girls Scouts of America, and enjoyed playing golf, tennis and taking walks.
Jane is survived by her three children: Margo Brace of Santa Fe, N.M., DeAnn Staples of Phoenix, Ariz., and Steve Brace of Overland Park, Kan. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be 10:00 A.M. on Monday, July 19th at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. Inurnment to follow in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Koats 4 Kidz Memorial Fund, c/o Sitzmark Sports.
