Jane Doris House, 93, was lifted up to Heaven on Wednesday, November 25, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leahman House; son, Joseph House; two brothers and four sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Moore; grandchildren, Kristin (Chad) Bechard, Ryan (Karen) Moore and Jenny (Piotr) Zygmunt; and 8 great grandchildren.
Jane was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota just minutes after her identical twin sister Joanne. They were the youngest of seven children of Grace and Evert McFall. The family eventually moved to Liberty, Missouri. The “twins” were graduates of the Liberty High School in 1939 and then the Kansas City College of Commerce. Both were employed in Civil Service positions in Kansas City. It is interesting that the two girls married cousins (Leahman House and John House) so they had the same last names.
Jane was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, president of Beta Sigma Phi and loved sports (especially KC Royals baseball and KU basketball). She was also a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church (EBC) for over 25 years. She valued her many wonderful long-term friends at EBC, spent countless hours working as the church librarian, loved singing in the church choir and enjoyed playing the card game, Hand and Foot, with her friends. Above everything though, she was a faithful, loyal servant to God and an excellent role model. Her exuberance for life and thoughtful manner will be greatly missed.
All services will be Tuesday, December 1, at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, 10100 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, Kansas 66212. Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation from 9:30am – 10:30am with a memorial service at 10:30am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. www.heart.org
