Jane Bucher Jones was born in Kansas City, Missouri on September 16, 1928 and passed away peacefully on June 18, 2016 in Kansas City, Missouri.
Jane received her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1949 from the University of Missouri at Kansas City, she decided she wanted to be a teacher because she had two teachers in particular who she admired, and she wanted to emulate them.  She received her Master's degree in biology from the University of Missouri in Kansas City in 1951, and also worked toward her PhD in biology.  Jane taught English and Biology, she retired in 1984.  She said her favorite part of teaching was her time off in the summer, she played golf in the summer and ice skated in the winter.
Jane was a club champion at the Meadowbrook Public Golf Course at Swope Park, and was a figure skating judge for 33 years.  She was Board Chairman of the Kansas City Garden Club and Treasurer of the Silver Blades Skating Club.
Jane learned to skate when she was about five years old, her father Julian Bucher taught her, and she said, "I spent more time on my seat than I did on my feet!"  She learned figures; she competed in the mid-Western Competition in Chicago and won three gold medals in dance.
Jane met her husband Charles, they were married until his death in 2011.
In 1981 Jane traveled to Brazil to visit her brother Julian at the El Dorado Plantation which was built by Daniel Ludwig, the boat builder who put the structure together for the logging mill on the Amazon River.  Her brother ran the saw mill.  As the family genealogist, Jane traveled to Germany and Lauterbrunen, Switzerland where her Bucher, Launer, Sidler and Zenger ancestors are from.  She discovered the Bucher family records in Lauterbrunen dating back to the year 1580.
Jane loved birds from an early age and she owned Budges and Cockatiels for over fifty years.
Jane also loved to play the organ, she took organ lessons, joined a group of organ players and played monthly in grade schools in Kansas City.
