Janet Pauline Fox-Meyer, age 77, of Shawnee, Kan., formerly of McCune and Olathe, Kan., passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2009. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. on Monday, December 21, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, Kan. Burial in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Olathe, Kan. Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, December 20, at the chapel. Janet was born on January 11, 1932, in Evanston, Ill. She married George W. Meyer on February 16, 1957, in Park Ridge, Ill. She was a past member of Harmony Homemakers of JoCo EHU and a member of Sharon 4-H Club, where she was a crochet/knitting leader and judge. Janet was a past member of St. Mark's and Redeemer Lutheran Churches in Olathe, Kan. She currently was a member of Jolly Quilters in McCune, Kan., Crawford County Farm Bureau and Trinity Lutheran Church in Girard, Kan. Janet was a lifelong homemaker and enjoyed organizing the crafts in the activity department of The Good Samaritan while in Olathe, Kan. Her hobbies included quilting, cross-stitch, cooking/baking and traveling. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Jessie Fox; her sister Judith Beck; her husband, George W. Meyer, and her granddaughter Dolly Meyer. Survivors include her three children, Douglas B. Meyer and wife Christine, Harrisonville, Mo., Dean W. Meyer and wife Gwen, Scottsdale, Ariz., and Kathleen E. Eckman and husband Steve, Shawnee, Kan.; seven grandchildren, Justin B. Meyer, Melissa A. Meyer, Matthew S. Meyer, Zachary DeLong-Meyer, Jacob W. Meyer, Mackenzie A. Eckman and Megan A. Eckman, and one great granddaughter, Elly B. Meyer.
