Janet M. Schroeder, 98, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, September 7, 2015.
Janet, the daughter of Robert and Virginia Manning was born February 8, 1917 in Roxbury, Kansas. Janet grew up in Roxbury before attending the University of Kansas, where she met and married her husband of 56 years, Robert Anthony Schroeder. They moved to Kansas City in 1938 and had one son, Brett, who she absolutely adored. Jan Jan, Grandma or GG later had three grandchildren and three great grandchildren that she enjoyed spending time with supporting and encouraging them in their interests. For Jan KU athletics played a big part in her life. As a season ticket holder for over 60 years she enjoyed every sport especially KU football and basketball. When not at a game Jan loved spending time with her friends. Jan would shop year round for the perfect gift for everyone on her list. Throughout the years Jan enjoyed bowling with her friends, traveling, spending time in Roxbury, cardinals and best of all chocolate.
Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, and her son Brett.
Janet is survived by her three grandchildren Christopher and wife Jennifer, Kyle and Britton, three great-grandchildren Ridge, Ryder and Valli, and daughter-in-law, Patty.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that memorials be made to the School of the Ozarks, PO Box 17, Point Lookout, Missouri 65726.
