Janice (Jan) Sue Heigele Heins, 78, passed away December 27, 2018. She was born October 7, 1940 in Kansas City, KS to Daniel Phillip Heigele and Arlene LaMonte Coffin Heigele. She spent her early childhood and early adulthood in Independence, MO.
Jan graduated from Missouri State University and then married Edward Heins in 1962 and had two wonderful children before moving to Texas in 1968. She lived in San Antonio, then Spring, before moving to Topeka, KS in 1974. After her marriage ended in 1982, she worked in Topeka a few years, then moved to Overland Park, KS, where she lived until her death. She spent 15 years working in Marketing at Padgett-Thompson, and the next 8 years at New Directions Behavioral Health in Quality Improvement and the Legal Department, before she retired.
Jan had several interests during her life. In her younger years, she loved her job of being a mom. She also spent a lot of her spare time oil painting, bowling, and church work. In later years she was more interested in golf. She was a member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) until she moved back to the Kansas City area, and then she became an active member of the Valley View United Methodist Church, where she spent the last 20 years of her life.
Jan loved her family above everything. Her children and her grandchildren were the joy of her heart. She also loved being with friends, especially eating out and going to movies after her health kept her off the golf course.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Arlene LaMonte and Daniel Heigele; and her brother, Terry Heigele. She is survived by her daughter, Jill Milburn (Terry), Overland Park, KS; son Dan Heins (Lona); two grandsons, Liam and Wyatt Heins, all of Columbia, TN; and her sister, Sandra Rigdon, Wexford, PA.
