Jay "Whit" Ruby

Jay Whitney "Whit" Ruby, 78, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2013, at St. Luke's South Hospital.
Whit was born May 8, 1935, in Champaign, IL, to J. Craig and Dorothy Ruby. He graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor's of Psychology. Whit worked for Conoco for many years before becoming part owner of A. E. West Petroleum. He enjoyed golfing, yard work, the Chiefs, MU football and above all spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Whit is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Janet Ruby; two children, Kirk Ritter and Dana Hoffmann; five grandchildren, Brittney and Skyler Hoffmann and Courtney, Nick and Christopher Ritter; sister, Joyce Fowler; a niece and nephew, Lynne Boeschen and Jay Fowler.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 16, 2013, at Christ Church Anglican, 5500 W 91st Street, Overland Park, KS 66207. Interment will follow at Johnson County Memorial Gardens, Overland Park. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
