Arlie Jean (Pettijohn) Chaney, 90, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away peacefully in her home at Lamar Court on January 17, 2010. She was born August 10, 1919 to Carl and Azalia (Ambrose) Pettijohn in Wichita, Kansas. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 21st at Leawood Presbyterian Church, 2715 W. 83rd Street, Leawood, Kansas 66206 and 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 22nd at Lamar Court, 11909 Lamar Avenue, Overland Park, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Deacon’s Fund at Leawood Presbyterian Church.
Jean married Col. Edward L. (Jack) Chaney on January 14, 1942 for 65 wonderful years. Jean graduated from Wichita High School North and the College of Emporia with a degree in music. She was a member of the Mu Phi Epsilon Lambda Tau Delta and Tri Psi sororities. She lived in Overland Park since1969 where she was a past president of the Johnson County Welcome Wagon Club. She belonged to the choir and was an active member of Leawood Presbyterian Church for over 40 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband; her daughters, Carolee Chaney Gazzolo and Marilyn Chaney; her sister, Ruth Southard; and her sister-in-law, Joan Ropp.
She is survived by a granddaughter, Lisa Geer and her husband Blaine, 3 great-grandchildren, Joey, Karli and Lainey; all of Gillette, Wyoming.
