Jean M. Hyde, 77, Kansas City, Mo., passed away Monday March 10, 2008, at Bishop Spencer Place.
Jean was born Oct. 1, 1930, in Pennsylvania the daughter of William and Mary Millar. She graduated from high school at the age of 16. She earned a nursing degree from Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, New York, and later became a nurse anesthetist. Jean and Ben Hyde were happily married for 55 years. Collecting antiques especially dolls and traveling were among her many interests. Jean was a community leader and volunteer who donated her time and resources to organizations including DAR, The Hugonot Society, PEO and the Women's City Club. She was a member of Country Club United Methodist Church. Jean lived her life to the fullest.
Jean was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Millar. She is survived by her husband, Ira Ben Hyde; daughter, Sarah Hyde; two grandchildren, Ben and Caroline Koenig, all of Kansas City; brothers, William Millar, Petaluma, Calif., and Ronald Millar, Baltimore, Md.; and a sister, Joanne Cox, Houston, Texas.
A celebration of Jean's life will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 14, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf. Private family burial will follow at Johnson County Memorial Gardens. A gathering of Jean's family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the chapel.
