Mrs. Jean Jones

Jean Boswell Jones, 93, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2013.
Jean was born June 27, 1920 in Baxter Springs, Kansas, to Doctor James Henry Boswell and Maud Cramer Boswell.
She earned an AB degree in Journalism from the University of Kansas where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority. She met and married Dr. Edward S. Jones, August 31, 1941.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Barbara Collins and son, Stephen E. Jones.
She is survived by her children, Pamela Spinelli, Divide, CO and Bradley B. Jones, Vashon, WA, six grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, her beloved nieces, Patricia Byall and Barbara Kenton, and nephew Bruce Collins.
She led the life of a mother, a doctor's wife, school and scout leader, volunteer and helped found the Cass County Historical Society in Harrisonville. After living in Harrisonville 35 years, she and Edward moved to Overland Park, KS in 1978, where she continued volunteering with St. Luke's Hospital, Genealogy Society, the Antique Clique, PEO Sisterhood Chapter CG, DAR Elizabeth Benton Chapter and KU Alumni Association. In the Missouri Republican Party, she was elected State Vice Chairman and President of the Fourth District Republican Party and a delegate to the National Convention in 1962.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 14 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 100 E. Red Bridge Rd., Kansas City, Mo. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to service. Following will be an inurnment at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS.
