Mrs. Jean Newsom

JEAN ANN (BERG) NEWSOM of Overland Park, KS passed away May 30th at Hospice House Kansas City, Mo.
A graveside service will be held on June 10th at 11:00 AM at Johnson County Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS.
Jean was born on December 15, 1923 to Oscar J. and Elsa M. Berg in Clay Center, Kansas. After graduating from Clay Center High School, Jean moved to Kansas City and while working for Hallmark Cards met George W. Newsom. They married in 1942 and traveled throughout the US while George served as a Pilot in the Air Force.
After the war was over, they returned to Kansas City and started a family. Jean became a home-maker and raised their son and daughter. She was an avid Bridge player, a champion of their children and the foundation of the family.
Preceding her in death were her parents, sister, brother, her husband of 67 years, George (Buck) Newsom, Sr. and their son George (Buck) Newsom, Jr. Survivors include daughter Barbara J. (Newsom) Sharp, grandsons Randy Sharp (wife Staci) and Scott Sharp (wife Mandy), great-grandson Cameron Sharp, and great-granddaughters Jillian Sharp and Maggie Sharp.
The family wishes to thank Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care for their wonderful care and support during the final days of Jean's life. A heartfelt thank you also goes to Norma Fiehler, Jordan Fehd and MaryAnn Gensler who gave their love and support to the family during Jean's final months. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the KC Hospice and Palliative Care center or charity of your choice.
