Jean Louise Young

Jean Louise Young, age 93, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2024 at St. Lukes Hospice House. She was with her husband, family and friends. Jean was born November 3, 1930 in Des Moines, IA to Harold and Edith Redick. As a child, she lived in Des Moines, Galesburg and Kansas City.

Jean graduated from Westport High School in 1947 as the Valedictorian of her class.

She married Buster Bert Young on August 11, 1950. The union produced 4 boys; Dave, James, Ronald and Gregory. She has 10 Grandchildren and over 2 dozen Great-Grandchildren.

Jean and Buster were very active in Cub Scouts. She was very devoted to her children and grandchildren. Her family was always her focus. Jean loved to sew and do cross-stitch. She sewed many blankets and clothes for her family. She always had a cross-stitch project working! Jean was an avid Chiefs and Royals fan and never missed a Sunday game.

Jean is survived by her husband, Buster Bert Young, her sons James Young, Ronald Young and her grandchildren, Dave R. Young II, Craig Young, R. Lee Young, Kenneth Young, Theodore Young, Michael Young, Jennifer Louise Young, Kent Young, Kristin Young and numerous Great Grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, siblings, her sons Gregory A Young, Dave R Young and her granddaughter, Michelle Jean Young.

She will be greatly missed by her loving family.
