Jeannette (Goddijn) Hermans, 83, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2013, at her residence.
Jeannette was born June 27, 1930, in Nijmegen, Netherlands, to Johanus and Elisabeth Goddijn. She was the eldest of ten children. Jeannette worked as a medical technologist at St Joseph Hospital in the mid 1950's. She married Paul Hermans, in Kansas City, in 1954. They adopted three children starting in 1961 at which time she concentrated on being a homemaker. Jeannette was involved in The League of Women Voters and other civic and volunteer groups. She enjoyed teaching and learning languages, guitar and other classical music, traveling, gardening, snow skiing, tennis, walking, reading and cats.
She was preceded in death by her devoted and loving husband of 56 years, Paul; her parents; and three siblings, Jan, Charlotte (Poppy) and Wilhelmina (Willie).
Jeannette is survived by her three children, Albert, Yvonne and John Hermans; five grandchildren, Connor, Olivia, Rosemary, Audrey and Tyler; and six siblings, Elisabeth (Lies), Cleen, Lia, Bob, Huub and Herman.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 17, 2013, at Johnson County Memorial Gardens – Indoor Garden of Memories, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66210.
