Mary Jeanne Waymire Tinberg, devoted mother and caring grandmother, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2018 in Prairie Village, Kansas. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 12 at 2:00 p.m. at the Johnson County Funeral Chapel and Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park.
Mary Jeanne was born on December 10, 1927 in Emporia, Kansas, and was the eldest daughter of Warren and Katherine Waymire of Madison, Kansas. Mary Jeanne spoke often of her deep love for her late younger sister Luella.
Mary Jeanne graduated from Madison High School and from Stephens College. She met her future husband, Richard W. Tinberg, at the University of Kansas, where they both graduated with degrees in business. Richard predeceased Mary Jeanne, having passed away on August 24, 2006.
Mary Jeanne enjoyed art and was a docent at the Denver Art Museum, where her family lived for several years, and a volunteer at the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City. She enjoyed volunteering at places of cultural interest and she was a lifelong member of bridge and garden clubs. She enjoyed traveling with her family within the United States and abroad.
Mary Jeanne is survived by her two sons, Richard and Donald Troy, and their wives Elaine and Prudence, five grandchildren, Christine, Richard, Kara, Taylor and Kelly, and four great grandchildren, Roman, Marin Grace, Jude and Emery.
