Jennifer Beth Wilkinson was born on August 6, 1946 in Kansas City, Missouri her parents, Dr. Everett A. (Wilkie) and Verna Wilkinson, siblings Barbara, Jim, Joanne and Kay were blessed with this precious gift. She graduated to life with the family of God on July 17, 2023.
Memorial services will be at Johnson County Funeral Chapel & Memorial Gardens, 112th Metcalf Avenue on Saturday, August 26. Visitation will be from 1-2pm followed by services at 2pm.
The youngest in the family, Jennifer was delightful, charming and entertaining, keeping us all focused on her loving ways, cute antics and observations. She could turn a simple phrase into a more explicit one by adding a few words. For instance - "that just burns me up" would turn into "that just burns me up " to a crisp." Her interpretation of situations were surprisingly insightful and amusing.
Jennifer knew no strangers and was eager to befriend everyone. Once you met her, she never forgot your face or your name, and would greet you enthusiastically with it the instant she saw you. She was totally unbiased and treated everyone equally, making sure that no one felt left out
Her smile would lift your spirits and brighten your day She communicated with her expressive beautiful blue eyes. They spoke of what she delighted in or what made her disappointed or sad. Jennifer particularly loved singing along with the "golden oldies" and rock and roll, and quite often would make up clever new words - always in sync with the music and rhyme. And she would belt out songs like 'Hello Dolly' to a crescendo finish.
After attending Prairie School, Jennifer went to Brown School in San Marcos, Texas where she enjoyed attending classes and social activities, and especially Texas State University football games where she felt and cheered like one of the cheerleaders. Jennifer participated in the Special Olympics. She liked to play ping pong, and even played a little Pickleball when she visited Texas.
Because of her outgoing, warm, loving, and friendly personality Jennifer blessed the lives, not only of her family, but all she came in contact with. The departure of this special blessing from God will leave a huge hole in many hearts, but memories of her will fill it with goodness and warmth and love.
She was preceded in this earthly life by her father and mother, and her sisters, Barbara Lovelace and Joanne McKinney. Surviving family are Everett James (Jim) Wilkinson and wife Julie, and Kay Alexander, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She has been laid to rest next to her parents in the Odessa Cemetery in Odessa, Missouri.
