Jerry Arlen Dal Porto, 72, Overland Park passed away Monday, December 22, 2008.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, December 28, 2008 at Hope Alive Christian Center, 9675 W. 159th St., Overland Park, Kansas 66221. A visitation will be held from 4-6 P.M., Saturday, December 27, 2008 at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson county Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park. A private burial will take place in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions are suggested to Kansas City Hospice, 10100 W. 87th Street, Overland Park, Kansas 66212.
Jerry was born March 14, 1936 in Santa Maria, California. He was very proud of his military experience in the Air Force, his mission work abroad, and being a deacon and elder at his church. He worked for channel 5 news for 20 years, retiring in 1992.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nello and Elizabeth Dal Porto. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Lois; children, Tai (Marlon) Towse, Cheri (Ivan) Hambleton, Beth Gray, and Gene (Sarah) Dal Porto; 14 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and sister, Suzanne (William) Kassen.
