Jerry Hayes

Jerry A. Hayes, 70, of Leawood, KS passed away Thursday, July 31, 2008 after a six year battle with pulmonary lung disease.

Jerry was one of six boys born to Susie and Leonard Hayes of Kansas City, MO on December 6, 1937. He attended school at Center Junior & High School, KCMO. He joined the Air Force where most of his service was done in Greenland. He worked for Hayes Drilling of KCMO before retiring in 2000 after 40 years of loyal and dedicated service. Jerry was a member of Operating Engineers Local 101 and was also a member of the Bishop Miege High School Booster Club where he served as president in 1975.

Jerry loved to go fishing with his son and grandson. He enjoyed attending all his grandchildren?s sporting events, whether it be baseball, football or soccer. He loved spending time with his family and friends and will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Harold and Trenouth Hayes.

Survivors include; wife, Donna; his son, Mike Crews and wife, Darlene; son, Jim Crews and wife, Kathy; their children, Nicole and Bob; daughter, Terry Orrick and husband, Tom; their children, Tommy and Michelle; daughter, Cathy McConniff and husband, Joe; their children, Brett and Emily; daughter, Shelly King and husband, Danny; their children, Reid and Emily; daughter, Stacey McClure and husband, Steve; their children, T.J. and CasSandra; great grandsons, Dylan and Anthoni; brothers, Don Hayes and wife, Shirley, Jene Hayes and wife, Betty, Bob Hayes and wife, Darlene; sister-in-law, Barbara Hayes and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 10 AM, Monday, August 4 at Holmeswood Baptist Church, 9700 Holmes. Visitation will be 5-7 pm, Sunday, August 3 at DW Newcomer?s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf. Contributions may be given to Bishop Miege High School or The Mayo Clinic.
