Jerry Kelley

October 10, 1935 — November 27, 2011

Jerry Kelley, in the company of family, passed eloquently to heaven November 27, 2011. Born October 10, 1935 in Enid, OK she was the third child of Lysle and Amy Waggoner. Jerry graduated from Arkansas City High School in 1953 and moved to Kansas City where she was a Secretary for Skelly Oil Company on the Plaza. There she met Richard W. (Dick) Kelley, they married in 1956, and she spent the rest of her life nurturing family and friends.
In 1973 Jerry returned to work. Until her recent sudden illness, she celebrated daily her 27 years of employment with her cherished friends at the law firm Ferree, Bunn, O'Grady and Rundgren.
Jerry enjoyed the local sports scene and loved to travel. From day trips to weeklong adventures her unassuming confidence and charming sense of humor carried her from sandy beaches to mountain tops and often to an adoring grandchild's home. Her legacy is best described by her motto: "Be Nice – Because It Matters". Congratulations on a well lived life. She will be missed terribly.
Jerry was preceded in death by her husband of 22 years, Richard William Kelley; Son, Richard Jeffery Kelley and brother, William Blaine Waggoner.
She is survived by son Robert and Suzanne Kelley of Mertzon, TX; Daughter Jill and Andre Ulrych of Marble, CO; Daughter Jan and Jeff Carlson of Lenexa, KS; 9 Grandchildren Cody, Clint, Megan, Allison, Dan, Jack, Juliana, Sam and Bella; Sister Doris Ward of Overland Park, KS; numerous nieces and nephews and many, many friends.
The family welcomes visitors from 5:30 - 7:30 pm Wednesday evening. A Memorial Service celebrating Jerry's life will start at 2:30 pm Thursday with an inurnment to follow.
