JERRY N. MINER
On November 3, 2011, Jerry N. Miner, went from paradise in Maui to paradise in Heaven while celebrating his 50th wedding anniversary with his wife, Barbara. Visitation will be Friday, November 11, 2011 6 to 8 pm. Celebration of life will be Saturday, November 12, at 10 am at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions will be made to City Union Mission, 1100 E. 11th St. Kansas City, MO. He was born on March 19, 1938, the son of Pearl (Frank) and Harry Miner, on their two acre farm, in Independence, Missouri. He graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1956. He served in the United States Air Force in Japan from 1956 to 1960. He was united in marriage to Barbara Armstrong on August 4, 1961 in Independence, Missouri. They shared over fifty years of marriage. After they were married they moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1962 where their three sons were born.
While he was employed at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids, Iowa he was involved in the building of the radio for the Lunar Excursion Module for the Apollo 13. Later after returning to the Kansas City area he worked as an electronics technician and worked repairing medical equipment, including X-rays, CTs, MRIs and cancer radiation equipment. Jerry enjoyed gardening and yard work, repairing anything, Bible Study Fellowship, and his family and friends. He and Barbara enjoyed traveling and having the opportunity to go to Belarus and Guatemala on short-term mission trips.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carole Bloom. Survivors include, his wife Barbara of the home; three sons, Steve (Sherri), Brian (Angela), and Kevin; sister, Mary (Gary) Minton; brother, John (Sheila) Miner; 12 grand children, and his beloved Ingersoll tractor and Old Blue.
Jerry was a gentle, soft spoken, Godly man, who truly loved the Lord.
