Jesse E. Hargrove (Jess) (J.E.) 95 of Overland Park, Kansas passed away February 19, 2015.    A graveside service will be held at  11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Johnson County Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, Kansas.  A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., also on Tuesday, at Rolling Hills Presbyterian Church, 9300 Nall Ave., Overland Park, Kansas, 66207. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any charity of your choice. Fond memories and condolences for the family may be left at www.johnsoncountychapel.com.
Jess was born April 13, 1919 to Ed and Vesta Hargrove on a farm in Hood County Texas.  The family moved to Oklahoma City shortly thereafter.  Upon graduation from high school he worked in a family business until being hired by AT&T in 1941.  He was employed there until his retirement in 1981 as Staff Supervisor with 40 years of service.
He resided in St. Louis, Missouri for 5 years before transferring to Kansas City in 1955.  Jess was a veteran of WWII, serving as a radio operator with the Caribbean Defense Command and was attached to the 6th Air Force at locations in the Galapagos Islands and Panama.  He was preceded in death by his wife Helen in 2006 after 58 and a half years of marriage; by son Steven in 1991; and his brother John in 2011.
He is survived by daughter Janet Boyle and her husband David; grandson Brett, of Carbondale Colorado; sister in-law Arline of Austin, Texas; niece Frances Gomez and family of Manchaca, Texas; step grandson, Darren and wife Jaime; and four great grandchildren of Ft. Collins, Colorado.  Arrangements made by Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 913-451-1860.
