We are blessed to celebrate the life of Julie Christie, born Jewell Jo Piano, August 20, 1935 in Tucson, AZ to Joseph & Nellie Piano. Julie attended Stephens College in Columbia, MO. After college Julie married Craig Christie with whom she had five sons: Robert, David, Michael, Dan & Joe, who all reside in the Johnson County, KS area. Julie is survived by her beloved sons, along with 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She raised her sons using a fierce and no nonsense attitude that will be long-remembered and admired by her entire family, friends, as well as those she worked with in the commercial floorcovering industry. Julie possessed an entrepreneurial mind that enabled her to build Artistic Floorcovering into a successful legacy floorcovering business that worked regionally from the Kansas City area at a time when female entrepreneurs were rare. She will be remembered and carried fondly in the hearts of many, especially her children and grandchildren, who each embody her spirit of entrepreneurialism, tenacity, strength and vitality. Her enjoyment of her sons and family, a good joke, strong (often unsolicited!) opinions, card games, and love of a good margarita will be missed.
Julie’s life will be celebrated on Sunday October 23, 2016, with a visitation from 2-3 pm and the
service at 3pm at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, KS, 66210. A reception will follow at Sullivan's Steakhouse, 4501 W. 119th Street, Leawood, KS.
Memorial contributions will be made to the American Kidney Association. Please offer condolences at
