Charles Joseph Hayes III, born December 8, 1948 in Paola, Kansas, lost his courageous battle with cancer after nine months. He is survived by his mother, Wanda Hazen of Lansing, Kansas, two aunts, Veda Whitehurst of Ardmore, Oklahoma and Katie McDowell of Turner, Kansas, an uncle, Everett McDowell of Ardmore, Oklahoma, a host of loving cousins, and many wonderful friends. Deserving special recognition is a small group of cigar smoking/golfing buddies with whom Chuck shared a special bond and years of laughter and friendship.
Chuck was well-known and respected in the Kansas City community. He was the center of attention, the life of the party, a doting son, and a beloved friend. Please join us in celebrating his life at an informal memorial service on January 3rd, 2009 from 2-4pm at Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Avenue in Overland Park, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Saint Luke’s Hospice of Leavenworth, Kansas, and Hospice House of Kansas City, Missouri.
