Jill Eileen Oakleaf of Leawood, Kansas, a beloved wife, Mom, Grandma, “Momo”, and friend, passed away on March 20, 2015. Jill was born on January 17, 1951 in Marquette, KS, a community she loved and cherished throughout her life. It was there that she developed a love for family, the farm, Angus cattle, singing, and her faith in God at Elim Lutheran Church.
Her most cherished gift in life was her family. She demonstrated her love for her three children and five grandchildren abundantly. She encouraged and loved on her grandchildren by cheering them on at their sporting events, baking cookies together and reading books to them. The grandchildren knew where to look in her purse for the secret stash of fruit snacks and a trip to the ice cream shop was never questioned. She loved entertaining her extended family at her home with delicious food and her famous apple pie.
Jill used the gifts and talents given to her by God to bless others. She spent most of her career as a pediatric physical therapist taking great pride in loving and serving children with disabilities and their families. Her talent as a vocalist allowed her to sing in church choirs, at community events and at home for the pleasure of her family. She was a superior conversationalist, always sharing a warm and comfortable presence and a listening ear. She knew no stranger and was quick to talk with anyone at any time.
In her leisure time, Jill valued time with her many friends. She maintained and nurtured relationships with friends made in all phases of her life and treasured lunch dates, walks, phone calls, and other get-togethers. She loved cultural activities and events, especially the Kansas City Symphony. Jill was an avid reader and enjoyed her flower gardens. Though she was a proud K-State alumnus, she secretly enjoyed cheering on the Jayhawks during basketball season.
She will be missed by her husband, Terry Oakleaf, daughter, Kelly (Jason) Hayes and son Kevin (Sarah) Oakleaf, son Jeff Oakleaf; grandchildren, Parker, Harrison, Carter, Chai and Winifred; brother , Shannon (Laura) Ericson; nieces, nephews, aunt, uncle and many cousins.
