Jimmie Donaldson Davis was born June 1, 1932 in Covington County, Alabama. He died April 21, 2011. He was preceded in death by his wife, Adonis Phillips Davis, 2 grandsons, Jeffrey Morgan Kincaid and Jayme Donaldson Kincaid, and his parents, Thomas and Essie Lou Davis.
He is survived by his son Glenn (Rhonda) Davis of Derby, Kansas; his daughters Gayle (Bill) Paulling of Batesburg, South Carolina, Jeanne (John) Hewitt of Kearney, Missouri and Jackie (Carl) Kincaid of Olathe, Kansas; grandsons Matthew (LeAnn) Davis, Nathan Davis, John (Anna) Paulling, Samuel Paulling, Phillip Hewitt, Maggie (Nathan) Reeves, Seth Kincaid, Andie Kincaid, Jaxon Kincaid; great-grandchildren Matilyn and Myra Davis, Sullivan Paulling and Jude Reeves. He is also survived by his brother, Jack Davis; his sister Patricia Tye and many nieces and nephews.
Jim was a graduate of Auburn University with an Agriculture Business degree and was employed by Elanco Products Company from 1967 until his retirement in 2004. Through the years he enjoyed gardening and woodworking. He built many pieces of furniture which have become family heirlooms. Jim influenced many lives, was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
He was an active member of First Southern Baptist Church, Overland Park, KS working in many areas of ministry.
A visitation will be held on Monday, April 25, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. with the funeral following at 10:30 at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons, Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, Kansas.
