Joan E. Rusnak, age 74, Overland Park, Kan., passed away Monday, September 1, 2008, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.
A celebration of her life will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 3, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf. Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice, 10100 W. 87th St., Overland Park, KS 66212.
The daughter of John and Mary Parker, Joan was born August 28, 1934, in Kansas City, Mo. She cherished all of her adventurous travels with her husband. Joan enjoyed her grandchildren's many school and sports activities. She also was a great sports fan!
She is preceded in death by her father, John; brothers, John Parker, Jr. and Byron Parker. Joan is survived by her mother of 91 years, Mary Parker; sisters Betty Steed, Joyce Lane, and Linda Wharton; brothers Ed Parker, Dan Parker, Richard Parker, and Michael Parker; son Chuck Rusnak, Jr. and wife Michelle; daughter Cheryl Lynd; daughter Caryn Woltkamp and husband Robbie; grandchildren Brenden, Natalie, Kyle, Becca, Scott, Madison, Colton, and Chase, and great granddaughter Emily. Joan overcame many obstacles that will help others gain strength through the courage that she displayed.
