Joan Strom-Millard

Joan Louise Strom-Millard, daughter of John C. and Eloise Snider, was born on August 30, 1952 in Chillicothe, Missouri; and passed away on March 14, 2008 at Menorah Medical Center.
Joan attended Graceland University, received her BA from Chadron State College in Nebraska, and completed her Master of Arts in Religion from Graceland University Seminary.
Joan married Richard Strom on August 26, 1972, and later married Ron Millard of Stilwell, KS on July 15, 1989. Joan is survived by her husband, Ron, her parents, three sons, Jeremy & Amanda Strom, Jason & Erin Strom, Brad & Sheri Millard and three daughters Jill (Strom) & J.P. Roberts, Denni (Millard) & Brandon Zborowski, Shauna Millard and eight grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Julia Jowett, Joyce Meredith, Jane Shipley, brother John C. Snider II, and many nieces and nephews.
Joan worked in the insurance industry, however, her passion was family and church. She served as pastor of the Mission Road Congregation for 8 years, and served on multiple leadership councils - including the
Council of High Priest. She lived her life with passion and grace,
leading by example for others to follow, and constantly challenging her spiritual growth as well as others. Joan defied all limitations and chose her own path even through the very last breath. She completed her journey on March 14, 2008 as well as her Masters degree in theology; her Thesis was on Spiritual Healing.
The family has requested memorials be sent to either Community of Christ Mission Road Congregation or Camp Quality USA.
Visitation will be held Sunday March 16, 2008 from 4-6 at D.W. Newcomer's Son's Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park KS.; and the Celebration Ceremony will be held at the Community of Christ Mission Road Congregation at 79th and Mission Road, Prairie Village, KS. Monday March 17, 2008 at 10AM.
