JoAnne Augusta New, 82, died January 28, 2016, at her home surrounded by the love of friends and family. She was born January 24, 1934 in Newberg, Wisconsin to Joseph Julius and Augusta Angelica Boehm. She graduated from San Antonio High School in 1951. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from University of Colorado, Boulder in 1955. She married Dallas Harold New on December 17, 1955. She leaves an adoring family with a legacy of unconditional love, and also with a great respect for her sharp intellect and independent opinions. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her daughter Candice. JoAnne is survived by four children and their spouses, DeAnne and Paul Wasleske; Holly Hall; Greg and Pam New; and Shawna and Jeremy Hart; and by six grandchildren; David Wasleske, Christopher Hall, Rebecca Hall, Thomas New, Margaret New, and Andrew Hart. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a future time.
She enjoyed plants, flowers and birds and became a member of the Bonner Springs Garden Club in 1974. She was the Bonner Springs Garden Club President during 1991-1994. As a Bonner Springs Garden Club member, she is also a member of East Central District, Kansas Associated Garden Clubs, Inc.(KAGC), and National Garden Clubs, Inc. JoAnne is a KAGC Life Member and held the post of KAGC Bird Chairman, a post she has filled for a number of years. She was the organist for Bonner Springs United Methodist Church for many years. She and Dallas transferred their membership to Grace United Methodist Church in Olathe and she enjoyed an active participation in both vocal and bell choirs. She valued the friendships from both churches. She retired from Olathe Medical Center after over 40 years of service in the Physical Therapy Department.
