Jodie Lavonne Beckler, age 89, of Olathe, KS passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Olathe Medical Center. A Funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, February 1, 2014 with visitation beginning one hour prior at Blue Valley Baptist Church, 8925 W. 151st, Overland Park, KS. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Spina Bifida Wisconsin, Ltd., 830 N. 109th Street, Suite 6, Wauwatosa, WI 53226 or to the Alzheimer's Association Heart of America Chapter, 3846 W. 75th St, Prairie Village, KS 66208.
Mrs. Beckler was born on December 30, 1924 in Monroe, NC. Jodie met the love of her life, Marcus, at a square dance during WWII. During the war she worked at a Military factory filling shells for the Navy. After the war she moved to Chicago, got married and raised her family. She worked and retired as a technical inspector for the Zenith Corportation. After retirement her greatest joy was serving the Lord and others in the churches of which she was a member. She loved family celebrations and being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jodie was preceded in death by her husband Marcus, her parents, four brothers and six sisters. Survivors include daughter Diane (Joe), son Chuck (Linda), son Jeff (Teresa), grandchildren; Joe (Liz), Shelly (Thomas), Jonathan (Becky), Matt (Tiffany), Ethan (Laura), Jerad (Lindsey), and 13 great grandchildren.
