Joel Edward Sikes, 41, of Overland Park, KS passed away Sunday, April 19, 2009. A gathering of family and friends will be held 9-10 A.M., Friday, April 24 at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf. A celebration of Joel’s life will immediately follow at 10 A.M. at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be sent to the Joel E. Sikes Memorial Fund c/o Bank of Blue Valley, 11935 Riley Street, Overland Park, KS 66212.
Joel was born July 25, 1967 in Brazosport, TX. He was a graduate of Brazosport Community College and was employed by Balance Innovations here in Lenexa.
He was preceded in death by his father, G. Thomas Sikes.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifteen years, Deanna Marie (Shields) Sikes, and six beautiful children, Connor, Caitlin, Greyson, Rachel, Rebekkah, and Ian. He is also survived by his mother, Julia B. Sikes of Lake Jackson, TX; brother, John A. Sikes and family of Richwood, TX; sister, Altha L. Milnes and family of Glendale Heights, IL; and many other relatives, friends and co-workers.
