Mr. John Fields

John S. Fields, 92, Leawood, KS passed away Thursday, October 22, 2009. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, October 24 at Country Club Christian Church, 6101 Ward Parkway, Kansas City, MO 64113. Friends may call on the family one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be given to Country Club Christian Church Endowment Fund.
John was born May 30, 1917 in Okemah, OK to William & Alice Fields. He was a veteran of WWII serving in Alaska from 1942-1945. On March 25, 1945 John married Thelma Brown. They moved to the Kansas City area in 1955 and became members of Country Club Christian Church. He was a member of the Official Board of Deacons at CCCC, president of Men of CC, Life Elder, past chairman of the Board, past Treasurer, and member of 50/50 Sunday School Class. Other memberships include the Kansas City Club and Brookridge Golf & Country Club, where he enjoyed golfing and socializing with friends. John also enjoyed an extensive career in the banking industry, serving as Senior Vice President and Loan Officer. He embraced the opportunity to invest in his clients and took great pride in their successes.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma, of 63 years, in December of 2008.
Survivors include his daughter, Mary Alice Boten and her husband, Tom; and granddaughter, Lindsay Boten, all of whom loved him dearly. John’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Sunrise Assisted Living of Leawood and Odyssey Hospice.
