John Jack Shepherd

January 15, 1934 — March 19, 2014

John "Jack" Shepherd, 80, Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather passed away, Wednesday, March 19, 2014 after a long illness.

Jack was born January 15, 1934 in Clearfield, PA to Ward L. Shepherd and Jane (Beightol) Shepherd. At 17, Jack joined the United States Air Force where he served for almost 10 years. He was first stationed in the Kansas City Area where he remained a lifelong resident with a few side adventures.

During his Air Force service he met and married the love of his life, Sylvia. He considered this as his greatest accomplishment. After his discharge, Jack started his 26 year career in the medical X-Ray imaging business where he had many successes. Starting out as a trainee and shipping clerk, Jack rose through the ranks to become Vice President of Sales and a member of the board of Directors of Greb X-Ray, Co. A self taught draftsman, he was the designer of many X-Ray departments in the KC area. Jack finished his career working and consulting for three other companies as he was not ready for "retirement".

Jack was also an avid Kansas City sports fan and boat enthusiast. He and Sylvia enjoyed their summer weekends with family and friends "cruising" the Lake of the Ozarks on his "yachts". He prided himself of being a "Good Citizen of the World" and a devout Catholic.

He is survived by the love of his life of 60 years, Sylvia (Toni), three children, Michael (Penny), David (Glenn) and Kim (Harold), six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 24, 2014 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11300 W. 103rd St., Overland Park, KS 66214. A rosary will be at 9:30 a.m. at the church.
