John Arthur Kost ~ 1940-2008
John died peacefully at home in the presence of his family, December 9th. His focus in life was family, faith and friends. He was born to Klarnell Kelly and Albert A. Kost (deceased) on March 29, 1940 in St. Joseph, MO. He graduated from Central High and the University of Kansas where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta. He married Susan Anderson, January 27, 1962 at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Kansas City, MO.
His working years began at .T & T Long Lines in 1963. From 1968 – 1984, he held management positions at Sprint (United Telecommunications) where he was promoted to Vice President of Corporate Development. In 1984, he founded Bigelow Systems, Inc., a consulting firm in strategy.

John had great fun coaching 14 seasons of North East United Soccer Cheetas and was a Cub Master at Prairie School. Our family had a tradition of spending a family vacation in Grand Lake, CO. – all in one cabin! His greatest personal joy had to be “going to the farm” in Bigelow, MO. He began going there with his grandfather in his youth and lived to take his grandchildren there with him.
He leaves to mourn his death, his mother Klarnell Kost, his sister, Jennifer Hoecker, his wife, Susan, sons John David (Jill) and Andrew William (Sheila) and grandchildren, Kelsey, Will, Grace and Jack
