John Lorne MacPhail passed away peacefully at home on December 29th. John was born November 13, 1936 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada to Winston and Mabel (Simpson) MacPhail. John served in the United States Airforce for several years before beginning his career in radiology. For the majority of his career, John worked at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, MO as the Director of Radiology as well as serving as an x-ray technician for the Kansas City Chiefs. John was known for his work ethic, devotion to his family, and love for boating, fishing, and debating politics. John was preceded in death by his wife Diana Sue (Peek) MacPhail and is survived by his sons, Brian Lorne (Kandace) of Ankeny, IA, John Derek (Anthony) of Pleasant Hill, MO, and Kevin Lee (Melissa) of Raytown, MO; two grandsons, Connor Lorne and Kaden Lorne; two sisters, Sandra Hatter and Nan (Joe) Howell, both of Cincinnati, OH, and many nieces and nephews. The visitation will be held at the D. W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66210 on Saturday, January 2nd at 10:00 followed by a memorial service to honor John’s life at 11:00.
