John Mohler

March 26, 1946 — December 23, 2017

Johnny Mohler, 71, of Overland Park, KS passed away Saturday, December 23, 2017. He was married to the love of his life, Cheryl Lynn Mohler, sharing 15 wonderful years of marriage together.

Johnny, son of John & Lee Mohler, was born at Brooklyn Naval Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated high school in Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico, relocating to California where he enlisted in the Army for a short while. Later on he moved to Kansas where he worked and retired from Arch Insurance, in 2015, after 38 years.

Johnny was a long time member of Brookridge Golf Club and a current member of the Country Club of Leawood where he had many dear friends.  Among his many interests were playing golf, watching football, KU basketball, and supporting his grandchildren in all that they did.  He will be remembered most as a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend to all he knew.

He is survived by his wife Cheryl Lynn Mohler; sister Carolyn Ridge and husband Lee (Delhi, CA); sister-in-law Jaci Mohler (Santa Barbara, CA); daughter Stacey Moore and husband Blake (Kearney, MO); son Brandon Zerbe and Margaret (Kearney, MO) and son Michael Mohler (Taos, New Mexico). Grandchildren Blake, Grace, Jordan, Kylee and Vivienne, and of course his furry friend Maggie Rose.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents John & Lee Mohler, brother Mark Mohler and daughter Shannon Zerbe.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 6, at the Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS.

The family is requesting, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions made in Johnny’s name to the KU Endowment Association towards cancer research at the University of Kansas Cancer Center.
