John Robert (Bob) Goodin, 63, Leawood, Kansas passed away Friday April 1, 2016.
Bob, was born October 26, 1952 to Sam and Nora (Blanken) Goodin and grew up on the family farm east of Clay Center, Kansas. He graduated from Clay Center High School in 1970 and attended Beloit Vo-Tech. He resided in Marion, KS from 1980-1996, moved to Wamego KS for 4 years, then moved to Overland Park Kansas in 2001. He worked for Farmland Industries as a truck driver and dispatcher from mid-80’s to 2000. When he moved to Kansas City, he worked for Crosslines Food Kitchen & Pantry. Most recently he worked for GasMart USA as a fuel dispatcher.
Bob was a devoted son, brother, husband, uncle, dad, grandpa and friend to many.
He described himself as an introvert but never knew a stranger. He loved to tinker around the house and the outdoors. He had a passion for cooking and feeding others, from large family gatherings to numerous food kitchen ministries. He especially loved BBQ and was part of a competition BBQ team, winning many awards and spending fun weekends with his family and other teams.
Bob was a lifelong Christian and active in church wherever he lived, singing in the choir, being a youth leader, and volunteering. Most recently he was a member of Church of the Resurrection and involved in many church activities, including volunteering with many ministries.
Bob is survived by his parents, Sam and Nora Goodin, wife, Debbie Delfosse Goodin; parents-in-law, Jim and Betty Delfosse; children: Renee Elliott(Dave), Jason Goodin(Tonya), Sarah Goodin, and Lane Goodin; grandchildren: Landon Elliott, Brittney Bush, Grace and Grant Goodin; Siblings: Andrea Ewert(Jim), Diane Novak(Dennis) and Kay Markey(Lyle); nieces and nephews: Rebecca Wade(Bryce), Nathan Ewert (Kathryn), Amber Markey and Amanda Markey. Bob will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on April 5th, 2016 at the Church of the Resurrection United Methodist Church, 5001 W. 137th Leawood, KS
