Jose Artigas, age 94, of Lenexa, KS, passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2011. He was born on July 9, 1917 in Oriente, Cuba, the son of Ramona (Aguilera) and Joaquin Artigas. Jose joined the Cuban National Army in 1938, actively serving in WWII with the US allies, until 1959. In 1961 the family migrated to the United States.
Survivors include his son, Jose J. Artigas (Vicki) of KC, MO; daughter, Lourdes Mullies-Vosseller (Charley) of Lenexa, KS; grandchildren, Alex, Amanda, Ashley, John and Julia; great grandchildren, Adrius and Maximus; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Caridad Artigas and 11 siblings.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 PM, Saturday, November 12, 201 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes Rd, KC, MO. Visitation will be held from 10:30-12:00 at the church. Burial will be held in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes Rd, KC, MO 64131.
