Joseph J. Erker, 90, Overland Park, KS, passed away 25 March 2016 surrounded by family & friends.
His love & legacy live on through his 3 children, 6 grandchildren & 3 great grandchildren.
A true “gentleman” with a warm smile and humble nature, Joe touched the hearts and lives of everyone he met. He was a kind, generous man who shared his incredible “Tenor” voice and talent throughout his life. He enjoyed volunteering and spending time singing with his dear friends in JCPRs “Side by Side Experience” at many Senior Residences the past 10 years. Joe exuded a quiet charm, warmth and dignity. He will be fondly remembered as a trusted advisor and confidant with a great sense of humor.
Born and raised in Ridgewood, Queens; Joe & his wife of 54 years; Catherine who predeceased him, lived in Mineola, Long Island for 45 years. They moved to Overland Park to be close to their children and grandchildren. Joe was a proud member of the US Navy during WWII. A “Wise” man on many levels, he enjoyed a 40+ year career & lifelong friendship with the Brown Family & Lorenz Schneider Companies
Joe’s family would like to acknowledge with deep appreciation the teams at ”Interim HealthCare” and Park Meadows who gave Joe impeccable care, love and respect.
A Celebration of Joe’s life will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, April 2 at Johnson County Funeral Chapel & Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, KS. 913-451-1860. The family request no flowers and would prefer memorial contributions in memory of their father be made to the donor’s charity of choice.
