Joseph Nathan Kyle was born in Butler, Missouri, on August 18, 1946.
The second of five children born to Harry and Shirley Kyle, Joe was blessed with a fun personality. He was cheerful, friendly, hard-working, had a teasing smile, a hearty laugh, and twinkling eyes.
He started life on a farm in Missouri close to LaCygne, Kansas, before the family moved to a house in town. Around 1959, Joe’s father Harry took a job in Florida and the family moved to Boynton Beach. Joe didn’t enjoy living in Florida. He talked his parents into letting him go back to Kansas and live, helping his grandparents, Lark and Ethel Kyle, on their farm near LaCygne. Joe graduated from LaCygne High School in 1964. After graduating they moved to suburban Kansas City, MO.
Joe got a job with one of their neighbors in Kansas City, Jerry Roberts, who owned his own company. Jerry helped Joe get into a pipefitter apprenticeship program in heating and cooling. He went on to become a foreman with local 533 for 35 years, retiring in 2003.
Joe also served in the tank artillery in the Army National Guard from Kansas City, Kansas.
In November of 1968, Joe and his cousin Paul McBurney went to a dance club in Kansas City, Kansas, where he met the love of his life, Sharon Kay Brown. They were married on May 16, 1970.
Joe and Sharon’s first residence was in Kansas City, KS. In 1978 they bought their current property in Lee’s Summit, MO. Joe loved his home. It allowed him to have so much fun doing many of his favorite things like fishing in his pond and having lots of friends and family over for cookouts and fireworks. No one could blow things up like Joe. He loved his family and always appreciated being with them and supporting them.
Joe dearly loved playing with his boys. He coached all of them in baseball and golf. He taught them how to fish, weld, and have a better overall understanding of how things worked.
Joe loved his extended family, and he made time for them. Throughout his life, he gave and attended family gatherings, and helped out family members with his professional know how. He delighted in all kinds of card games and Scrabble, probably because he usually won. He also played golf, fished and bowled. Sitting still was one of the few things he didn’t do very well.
He enjoyed watching sports, especially the KC Chiefs.
The Kansas farm boy never outgrew his roots. He liked working on his acreage and watching the deer around the pond. He loved spoiling his dogs.
In retirement, Joe and Sharon traveled the US in their RV, visiting family and friends with their dogs.
He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Shirley Kyle and two nephews Wayne Cook and Rodney Still.
On June 7, 2022, Joe passed away surrounded by family.
