Joseph Alan “Joe Van” Van Houtan, 62, Louisburg, KS, passed away on November 4, 2017 at his home from cancer.
Joe was born June 19, 1955, in Lawrence, KS to Earline and Everett Van Houtan. Joe started working at Wolf Creek until the job ended after he was employed there for 14 years. After the job at Wolf Creek, Joe started working in the car business, starting in 1985. He started in Topeka, KS and ended his career at Olathe Dodge Chrysler Jeep. Joe started in sales, then to finance, and he ended at Manager. He was also part owner of his own car lot, MTV Auto, with Dave Teel and Jim McNeil. Joe loved spending his free time riding motorcycles, fishing, and spending time with his family.
Joe was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be missed very much.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Earline.
Joe is survived by his wife, Lynette; daughters, Christy, Karie, and Tamara; son, Dustin; brother, Milan; 3 nephews; grandchildren, Payton, Kirsten, Lucas, Zachary, Brantly, Mason, and Addison; and his in-laws, Pete and Lynn Bernot.
A celebration visitation will be held on Sunday, November 12, from 2-4PM, at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS 66210. A graveside service will be held at 11AM on Monday, November 13, at Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Joe’s family so that they can place a memorial for him at Deana Rose Park.
