Joyce Joan Seymour, age 81, of Shawnee, KS, passed away on February 23, 2015. Joyce was born November 25, 1933 in Marion, IN to Elma and Irvin Smith.
She graduated from the Indianapolis College of Nursing and completed her nursing clinicals at the Indianapolis General hospital. Joyce went on to work at Shawnee Mission Medical Center, retiring after 30 years. She was married to Jack Seymour for 58 years. Joyce enjoyed telling jokes, crafts, flowers, romance novels, traveling, and volunteering. She was a dedicated mother and wife. Joyce worked nights in order to be there for her kids during the day. She loved her family and enjoyed getting together for birthdays and holidays.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Jack Seymour, her parents, and sister Louise Flynn. She is survived by her son Donald (Cindy) and daughter Susan Seymour, sister Betty Spencer, cousins, nieces and nephews, and her grand dogs Bugz and Stella.
A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at the Johnson County Funeral Chapel. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 pm on Friday, February 27, 2015 also at the chapel. A private inurnment will take place at a later date in the Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
