JOYCE WILNER
Joyce (Jensen) Wilner, 91, of Fairway, KS, passed away at home on May 9, 2012, surrounded by family and friends.
Joyce was born December 17, 1920, in Jessup, Iowa, to Hermann and Josephine (Folven) Jensen. She lived the majority of her life in Kansas City, but traveled the world numerous times with her beloved husband, children, and grandchildren.
Joyce was known for her generosity, compassion, and exuberance. She helped both her husbands run a family business, Universal Manufacturing, while raising five children, overseeing a beautiful home and gardens, and entertaining business customers in unmatched style. Her parties were legendary, as were the many family trips she organized to locations around the world. Never too busy for family or friends, Joyce touched the lives of many, many others with her generous spirit and deep friendship. Family and love were the most important things to Joyce, and she will forever be remembered by her personal motto: "You're Nobody 'Til Somebody Loves You."
Joyce was preceded in death by first husband, Joseph Berkowitz, and second husband, Norm Wilner, the love of her life. She is survived by a brother, Stanley (Bette) Jensen of Mission, KS; five children: Joseph (Deborah) Wilner of Lenexa, KS, Jerry (Carolyn) Wilner of Kansas City, MO, Jenny Wilner of Crested Butte, CO, Joy Wilner-Boyle of Prairie Village, KS, and Jay Wilner (Mollie) of Olathe, KS; 11 grandchildren: Nathan (Beth) Doolittle, Sarah Kamens, Katie (Ryan) McNeil, Jenny (Daniel) Regan, Ben Kamens, Joe Wilner, Maggie Boyle, Connor Boyle, Brooke Wilner, Aeriel Wilner, and Vanessa Wilner; and two great-grandchildren: Eva Doolittle and Will McNeil.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 14, 2012 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM, with a Memorial Service to follow 12:00 PM at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel. Refreshments and Fellowship will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joyce's name to Heartland Hospice, whose gentle services were a blessing to the family: Heartland Hospice Memorial Fund, 4601 College Blvd., Leawood, KS 66211.
